Welcome to Art in the County!
27th Annual ART IN THE COUNTY Juried Exhibition and Sale was held
June 19 – July 31, 2020
August 1, 2020 Our very first online exhibition has now closed. Thank you to the committee members, jurors, sponsors, visitors and buyers for helping us celebrate the artists in our community. Your flexibility and hard work has made the 2020 show a success – 100 artworks were on display and seen by 3,800 visitors. A big thank-you also to the artists themselves for adjusting to the online format. We are looking forward to 2021 hoping that we will be able to hold an onsite show but knowing that an online show can be done.
June 19, 2020 – Congratulations to this year’s artists chosen by our three exceptional jurors Peter Dusek (artist and photographer), Otis Tamasauskas (printmaker) and Lenni Workman (visual artist). Special congratulations to our award winners: four Jurors’ Awards – Anne-Sophie Falconer, J.Douglas Thompson, Kato Wake, and Tara Wilkinson; and three Honourable Mentions – Keith Beaty, Pamela Carter, and Susan Straiton. The Online Show opens today.
June 18, 2020 – The Prince Edward County Arts Council and Art in the County are pleased to present the 3rd annual Community Arts Builder Award to Hri Neil, Curator and Gallery Director, Carbon Art & Design, Picton. Sponsored by Sam Simone, Monica Klingenberg & Laurie Gruer of Chestnut Park Real Estate Limited Brokerage, the Community Arts Builder Award celebrates individuals who have enriched community life through the arts as nominated by local residents. The 2020 selection committee of Shirley Lewchuk, Laurie Gruer, Sarah Moran, and Krista Dalby (as the 2019 award recipient) stated, “Since arriving in the County, Hri has made his presence known in a humble yet incredibly visible way. A thoughtful, creative and supportive artist, he has made an immeasurable contribution to our community as a mentor, curator, and participant in a wide range of community events.
April 23, 2020 – Today we launch the 27th annual Art in the County juried exhibition and sale! For 2020, Art in the County will be an online show to comply with public health recommendations to maintain physical distancing during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Artists have from now until June 5 to register and to submit digital images of their artwork for jurying by our panel of three Canadian art professionals. [see To Exhibit page here] When the show opens on June 19th and until July 31st, visitors will be able to enter our online store/gallery through a portal on this website to view those works chosen by the jury to be in this year’s show.
