The Fishing Shack by Martha Ippersiel Acrylic on canvas, 16" x 20", framed
Martha Ippersiel retired from a long career as a librarian in Ottawa. While working, she obtained a degree in Art History from Carleton University and, although an essentially self-taught painter, has participated in studio classes in Ontario, British Columbia, and Florida where she has received several awards for her work. Ippersiel's realistic acrylic paintings are inspired by landscapes imagined, remembered or photographed. Her abstract work focuses primarily on colour. For Ippersiel, painting is series of corrections and is a rewarding process combining intent, influence and intuition. She presently divides her time between Prince Edward County and Bradenton, Florida and her work is held in collections in both Canada and the United States.
