Cotton embroidery floss on 18 count AIDA fabric, framed, 12" x 23.2"
About the Artist:
Janet Comeau has been an avid landscape photographer and fabric hobbyist for many years. It’s only recently (since moving to The County) that these two passions came together in the form of cross-stitched landscapes.
Focusing on rural scenes where there is a strong dynamic between land and sky, her pieces are based on her own photographs, rendered into a pattern that is then stitched on 18 count Aida cloth (18 stitches per inch) with cotton thread.
The resulting effect is a work that appears photographic from a distance and where the stitch work is only apparent on closer inspection.
